Study Sites
| The original ORCA mooring was deployed in Carr Inlet, South Puget Sound between May 2000 and May
2003. It was then deployed north of Seattle, near Point Wells,
between August 2003 and December 2004. Currently,
the ORCA system is deployed in Hood Canal, and has been collecting data near Twanoh since January, 2005.
In addition to the original mooring, there are 3 additional ORCA systems, also deployed in Hood Canal; one deployed near Hoodsport in November 2005, one just off of Holly since August 2006, and one north
of the
Hood Canal floating bridge, near Hansville, since November 2005. This map shows the previous study sites (shown in red) and current deployment locations (shown in yellow). |
